Surtr was a terrible dark lord who sacrificed his entire towns in performing blood magic rituals. In his last attempt to summon a powerful demon, he was attacked and killed by mercenaries who was hired by the local town. His gear was scavenged by a merchant who sold it for some good ammount of gold and since then it's been worn by many other mercenaries.
